Google Analytics is optional and stays off until you consent. Advertising pixels and marketing cookies are not used. Choosing “Essential only” does not reduce access to the stories.

These translations are provided so families can understand the same rules in their preferred language. Mandatory rights under applicable law always prevail.

1. Essential technology

Essential technology protects and delivers the site, records your privacy choice and, when a parent chooses to log in, keeps that account session active. It cannot be switched off through our banner because the requested account service cannot operate securely without it.

  • __cf_bm (Cloudflare cookie): bot and abuse protection; expires after about 30 minutes of continuous inactivity. Cloudflare states it is site-specific and not used to track a person across sites.
  • Cloudflare may set an additional short-lived challenge or security cookie only if a security check is presented; duration depends on the challenge.
  • pip-and-ponder-consent-v2 (local storage): records optional language and analytics choices, the policy version and time; expires for our purposes after six months.
  • sb-…-auth-token (Supabase local storage, only after account use): keeps the parent securely signed in and refreshes the session until logout, expiry or browser-data deletion.

2. Optional functional storage

If you allow preferences, pip-and-ponder-language stores your chosen reading language on this browser. The site also places the language in the page URL, so you can switch languages and navigate without accepting optional storage. The saved preference is ignored after six months, when consent is refused or withdrawn, or when you clear browser data. Preferences a parent intentionally saves to an account are part of the requested account service instead of optional device-only memory.

3. Optional anonymous analytics

If you enable Analytics, Google Tag Manager loads the Google Analytics 4 tag (G-QQDV3ZS7FS) and first-party cookies beginning with _ga may be stored for measurement. We use basic page views to understand which stories and pages are useful. Enhanced Measurement, Google advertising signals and advertising consent are disabled, and account, parent and child identifiers are never sent. If Analytics is off, Tag Manager and Analytics are not requested.

4. What we do not use

There are no advertising cookies, marketing pixels, social-media trackers or cross-site marketing profiles. We will not add another non-essential category without updating this Notice and asking for consent first where required.

5. Change or withdraw your choice

Use the Cookie settings link in the footer at any time. “Essential only” removes the saved language preference, denies future analytics and clears accessible first-party _ga cookies. “Allow all” permits language memory and anonymous analytics. You can also choose either option separately under Review choices. Refusing is as easy as accepting and the stories remain available.

You can also delete site data in your browser. Blocking all cookies at browser level may cause Cloudflare security checks or other essential features to fail.

6. More information

Google Analytics is provided by Google LLC and may process consented analytics data in the United States or other locations where it operates. For information about personal data, providers, transfers and rights, read the Privacy Policy. We will update this Notice before introducing checkout or new storage technologies.
